Job Opportunity
DescriptionOur client is seeking an application developer to do the following: Participate in the design, development, construction, testing, delivery, implementation and maintenance of applications; Participate in analysis of requirements and assist in in producing application technical specifications; Assist in the development of a production control support process; Follow all architectural, and security standards, policies and guidelines when building applications; Ensure code written is thoroughly tested by following testing best practices including the use of unit testing, system testing, and performance testing; Assist in troubleshooting application issues; Create or update existing application support documentation to ensure that it matches the code and environment; Assist in managing and maintaining development and system test environments; Assist in the continuous improvement of all application architecture development standards and guidelines; Provide tracking and reporting of time and status on all work.

Experience Required/ Mandatory Skills
  • Experience developing and maintaining asp.net applications based on business requirements within an organization of equivalent size and complexity to the Government of Alberta. (7 years of more)
  • Experience developing applications using Microsoft .NET framework 3.5 or higher, Microsoft C# 3.5 or higher and ASP.NET MVC 4 or higher and ASP.NET WebAPI (3 years of more)
  • Experience and technical knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or higher. (3 years of more)
  • Experience and technical knowledge of Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0 or higher (3 years of more)
  • Experience with Microsoft Team Foundation Server or equivalency (GitHub, SourceForge, Subversion, etc.) (3 years of more)
  • Experience and technical knowledge of modular programming techniques. (3 years of more)
  • Experience in performing unit testing / system testing activities. (3 years of more)
  • Experience writing and maintain technical documentation.(3 years of more)
 
Nice To Have Skills
  • Experience developing and supporting an Identity and Access Management solution supporting at least 100,000 user accounts. (3 years or more)
  • Experience developing and supporting a solution with a core technology of Active Direct Federation Services (ADFS) 2.1 (3 years or more)
  • Experience developing and supporting a solution with a core technology of Security Assertion Mark Up Language (SAML)2.0. (3 years or more)
  • Experience in an environment with continuous integration (TFS Build, MSBuild or equivalents) (3 years or more)
  • The ability to learn quickly, problem solve/troubleshoot, work independently and in a team.
  • The ability to manage stress and manage conflict.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Experience and technical knowledge of HTTP RESTful Services. (3 years or more)
  • Experience with Government of Alberta architecture standards for application development.
  • Experience developing in a N-tier environment. (2 years or more)
  • Experience and technical knowledge of JSON. (2 years or more)
  • Experience and technical knowledge of responsive design. (2 years or more)
