Job Opportunity
DescriptionThe successful candidate will be responsible for the successful execution of all project management activities. The Project Manager role encompasses all stages of project life cycle, from initiation through to delivery of the solution and subsystems and close-out of the project. This includes working with the Sponsor and Technical Lead, stakeholders, vendor and consultants to ascertain the project’s level of effort. It includes planning, quality, personnel, and financial budget, as well as developing the project definition which will encompass, at a minimum, development of project charter, project management plan, and project schedule deliverables and budget. Given this mandate, the Project Manager will prepare initial estimates, create a financial view of the project, and in conjunction with the Technical Lead and Sponsor, determine the technical approach and associated project schedule. The Project Manager is the primary point of contact for the project and will regularly report the status to all parties. The Project Manager will work closely with the prime vendor and manage vendor performance and relationship. The Project Manager will report directly to the Systems Support Manager and may be engaged in additional projects throughout the contract.

Experience Required/ Mandatory Skills
  • 10 years combination of education, training, and project management experience;
  • Project management of radio network infrastructure, wireless technology or application development;
  • Managing multi-million dollar technology and business solution projects;
  • Excellent communication and networking skills;
  • Government (Provincial, State, or Federal) work experience;
  • Experience with first responder or emergency management agencies;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Project;
  • Proven experience with large, complex systems that include hardware, software and documentation deliverables;
  • Defining and writing processes and procedures;
  • Using and assisting in the deployment of common testing, build and development tools;
  • Developing and providing informal and formal training of processes, procedures and tooling solutions;
  • Experience in Release Management of hardware, software, and documentation;
  • Hold a current PMI certification; and
  • Candidate must be able to pass an Enhanced Security Clearance.
