Job Opportunity
DescriptionThe Senior Network Analyst shall assist in and be responsible for the following: a) Develop, present, and implement solutions for network performance problems alone and in collaboration with other technology specialists; b) Act as the subject matter expert on all aspects of LANs and WAN circuits including commercial WANs, microwave, and satellite services; c) Coordinate the contracting of WAN circuits and technology from various providers and co-ordinate installation with other support activities; d) Collaborate and communicate with personnel and agencies; e) Develop and implement a WAN testing process to ensure optimum performance of WAN technologies; f) Conduct research, evaluate and determine the need for new products and product enhancements; g) Set up test environments for evaluating new products and services; troubleshooting, and testing hardware and software upgrades; h) Produce and review LAN and WAN test results and recommend actions based on test results; i) Assist agencies with troubleshooting interconnection issues; j) Assist with the coordination and resolution of service requests related to WAN performance or service outages; k) Design and implement network technology solutions to meet new and changing requirements (e.g. new security access requirements); l) Implement, operate and maintain network management solutions such as HP BTO, Centerity and other SNMP and/or RMON based management solutions for service level compliance measurement; m) Implement, operate and maintain VPN solutions; n) Design, create and periodically publish reports for network utilization, availability outages and other performance indicators; o) Assist with the investigation of major incidents, recommending potential actions to ensure continuous improvement; p) Design and implement WAN and LAN additions; q) Recommend, implement, operate, and maintain network routing protocol configurations including EIGRP, OSPF, and RIP; r) Participate and contribute to cross-functional projects by providing technical IT networking know-how and expertise; s) Implement, upgrade and troubleshoot security software and hardware infrastructure; t) Develop, implement and update standard operating procedures; u) Enter, update, and respond to work tickets and work orders; v) Provide technical support and stand-by support on evenings and weekends;

  • Current Government of Canada Secret Security Clearance.
  • Minimum 1 year experience procuring, implementing and utilizing commercial WAN services for service operation from suppliers utilizing fiber, copper, wireless, and satellite. Indicate if MPLS (Multiprotocol Label Switching) was utilized by providers.
  • Minimum 2 years experience working for or with provincial, federal, and/or first responder organizations.
  • Minimum 1 year experience supporting a public safety first responder network used for field operations or similar requirements.
  • Experience developing and reporting metrics to assess compliance with service levels. Preferably using Centerity, HP BTO, or CiscoPrime.
  • Minimum 2 years experience implementing and operating network security technologies including encryption, firewalls, intrusion detection, and logging centralization.
  • Minimum 3 years experience with networking aspects of Microsoft Windows, Linux, and Sun desktop and servers.
  • Minimum 2 years experience using OSPF, EIGRP and/or other routing protocols in design and operations for systems with multi-homed network redundancy.
  • Minimum 2 years experience troubleshooting failures and network performance for a large (more than 200 locations) highly redundant IP network that used wireless and satellite technologies.
  • Minimum 3 years experience providing technical support stand-by (evenings and weekends) for a large highly redundant IP network (more than 200 locations).
  • Minimum 3 years experience working on multiple concurrent projects while supporting an operationally large (more than 200 locations) highly redundant IP network.
  • Minimum 1 year experience developing, implementing and updating standard operating procedures for a large (more than 200 locations) highly redundant IP network.
  • Minimum 2 years experience propagating QoS tags through commercial WAN provider networks.
