DescriptionOur Client is seeking a Technical Business Analyst to work on development projects related to business intelligence (BI) and data visualization tools, enterprise data lake and analytics tools, and data and information sharing web portals (public-facing and/or internal).

Experience Required/ Mandatory Skills
  • Experience working with clients/business partners to identify, gather, document, and analyze business requirements. (5+ years)
  • Experience leading or contributing largely to translating business requirements to technical requirements. (5+ years)
  • Experience in software/system/solution development life cycle projects and the relationships among the components that make up an IT service - from end-user interfaces to servers, networks, storage, applications, and data. (5+ years)
  • Experience as a key contributor in projects with an emphasis on any or all of the following: business intelligence (BI), data analysis, data analytics, data visualization, data management, data lake, big data, data security, open data. (3+ years)
  • Willing and able to work full-time in-person in client office(s) in Edmonton, Alberta.
  • Candidates (all or shortlisted) may be required to take a written test. The test, if issued, would take approximately 30-60 minutes to complete. No reference materials (electronic, paper, etc.) of any kind will be allowed during the test. Any applicable free text/long answer responses must be largely the candidate’s own original verbiage. Any plagiarism may result in immediate disqualification.
  • Candidates may be required to deliver a live presentation during the interview stage. Supporting material may be required. The presentation would be ~15 minutes in duration. The client will provide scope in advance. Presentation must consist largely of original content and materials. Any plagiarism may result in immediate disqualification.

  • Experience leading or contributing largely to translating business requirements to technical requirements. (5+ years)
  • Perform IT and/or business-related analysis, diagnosis, problem-solving, communication, presentations, planning, estimating, and documentation. (3+ years)
  • Experience working in a team to design, develop, and implement complex IT solutions and/or technical data environments. (3+ years)
  • Experience assisting clients execute strategies with technology, process, organizational design, and IT operations. (3+ years)
  • Experience designing and developing flow and relationship diagrams, including but not limited to process map, data flow, entity relationship. (3+ years)
  • Experience leading or contributing largely to IT service management (ITSM) processes planning, development, and execution. (3+ years)
  • Experience with BI/visualization tools (above and beyond spreadsheet software) as an end-user and/or in projects to implement such tools in a large enterprise environment. (3+ years)
  • Experience with big data analytics tools as an end-user and/or in projects to implement such tools in a large enterprise environment. (3+ years)
  • Experience in planning, monitoring, documenting, and/or performing User Acceptance Testing. (3+ years)
  • Experience working on multiple projects currently, spanning multiple technical environments. (2+ years)
  • Experience with open source systems and working with communities of practice. (2+ years)
  • Communicating with multiple levels of staff directly and/or in meetings, including management and executives. (2+ years)
  • Very good oral and written communication skills. (5+ years)
  • Positive attitude, strong work ethic, strong time/work management, able to work well alone, able to collaborate well with a variety of teammates and clients, team player.
